Through the lenses of the Trekking Agency that helped team ‘Uunchai’ trek the Everest Base Camp: Belmont Adventure

To honor their dying friend’s final wish, three retired friends embark on a trek to the Everest Base Camp. What begins as an adventure quickly develops into a deeply personal journey of emotional awakening.

If you’ve watched the movie or are a big fan of Bollywood films, you’ll soon realize that Uunchai is well above the standard plot that usual Indian adventure movies have. Just the fact that the directors were able to grab some of the biggest names in Bollywood – Danny Denzongpa, Amitabh Bacchan, Anupam Kher and Boman Irani to travel to the Himalayas is a feat in itself.

Chances are, if you’re here on this page ready to read about the experience of the behind-the-scenes trekking agency, you have already watched and fallen in love with the Indian adventure masterpiece of filmmaking. At Belmont Adventure, we treat it as an absolute gem of a project. Read below to engross yourself in our story through our lenses. What we saw, what we think of it, and what we learnt:

Here’s our experiences of the making Uunchai, through our lenses and stories:

Parineeti Chopra, Boman Irani and Anupam Kher chilling in the hills.

Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Parineeti Chopra were exhausted after a strenuous day of trekking through the Himalayas when they finally found a place to rest. They took a moment to catch their breath and talk about their common experiences as they sat down with a majestic view of the snow capped rocks. All three superstars expressed their excitement at seeing a new place and meeting so many fascinating people. This also gave the locals a chance to see their favorite actors, sit down, chat and plan for the shooting ahead.

The cameras that were used to film Uunchai were crucial in capturing the wonder and beauty of the nation’s breathtaking landscapes. More than the usual required high-resolution lenses and sophisticated stabilization technology, sheer brilliance and creativity was needed to capture the true essence of the actors moving through rocky terrain. The cameras also helped document Nepal’s rich cultural heritage by taking pictures of its bustling markets, busy villages, and historic temples. The end result was a movie that was beautifully produced, capturing, conserving and showcasing the beautiful country that Nepal is. The cameras brought the world of Nepal to life on the big screen, whether they were flying over mountain peaks or exploring secret valleys.

The residents greeted Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Parineeti Chopra with warm smiles and enquiring looks as they strolled through the mountainous terrain in Nepal. Despite some of the language barrier, inquiring about their lives and paying close attention to their experiences, the actors seemed to have a great time. Veteran Bollywood actor Anupam Kher discussed the value of conserving indigenous traditions while sharing his own memories of growing up in India. Known for his diverse acting abilities, Boman Irani made jokes and laughed with the young people who avidly followed him about. The rising star of the industry, Parineeti Chopra, won over the locals with her amiable personality and contagious enthusiasm.

Director Sooraj Barjatya was overcome with gratitude as he sat down with the cast of his film and our trekking leader, Ranjit Rai, who had assisted them in navigating the rocky terrain of the Everest Base Camp. Together, they had braved the cold yet rewarding terrain to document the area’s breathtaking beauty. Sooraj, who was renowned for his friendly disposition, grinned as he posed for a group photo with our guide who had grown to be a trusted friend and ally.

Uunchai was a smashing success and Everest Base Camp was the ideal location to film Uunchai because of its breathtaking scenery, difficult terrain, and rich cultural history. The film vividly depicted the area’s beauty and awe, displaying both the majesty of its natural surroundings and the tenacity and fortitude of individuals who call it home. The voyage of these three friends was transformed into a retelling of adventure, camaraderie, and self-discovery by the filmmakers’ artistry and skill. Without a doubt, the film will encourage others to follow in their footsteps, to travel the globe and experience the joys of adventure.

We at Belmont Adventure are honored to be a part of the show, helping a talented team of filmmakers and crew navigate through the beautiful Everest Base Camp.
